The ICT for Development Alliance, was launched at the Close The Gap 10th anniversary. This is the first worldwide partnership of ICT-development organisations; and unites six international organisations from Belgium, Ireland, Kenya, Netherlands and the United Kingdom. The organisations are committed to sustainably increase digital literacy by sharing knowledge, and best practices.
Archbishop Desmond Tutu who was joined by his eldest daughter Theresa Tutu oversaw the proceedings. He spoke passionately about the positive changes that are starting to take place and by uniting and working together this will only increase. “ICT should no longer be a luxury good for the happy few, but a commodity for everyone, including those at the base of the pyramid… the other five billion people in this world. We are one world, and these children are our children, their destiny is our destiny. Each of us can make a difference.” Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
