Danny Chinery, Regional IT Manager Timberland Europe, was in the process of a company IT upgrade & needed a solution that was both socially & environmentally responsible for the unwanted equipment.
1) Action Plan
After initial contact, collection of the computers were organised & press releases created. Building strong relationships are important to Digital Pipeline and when businesses want more than an IT removal service we work together for mutual benefit.
2) The Destination
The donated computers were destined for Lower Tugela Primary School in Kwazulu Natal, South Africa. These computers were put into a purpose built computers room in a region where 25% of people live below the poverty line.
3) Reaping the Benefits
The service Digital Pipeline offers is simple & effective. It can save companies like Timberland hundreds, potentially thousands of pounds. By securely data wiping the equipment, information stored on the systems is destroyed and the company's’ reputation protected. Digital Pipeline also feedback on donations as we receive details from our African partners.
“We recently donated some older computers (too old for the high-tech Timberland world but certainly still usable to most) to a charity called Digital Pipeline. I’ve worked with the organisation in the past & appreciate that they seem like a low-key company doing what they say on the label with no frills or whistles. This is not the first time our team has done something like this – but this is the first time I realised how important this is to others, what a difference it can make,” Daniel Chinery, Regional IT Manager Timberland Europe.
