From Bukoba, TZ to Buckingham Palace, UK

Aseri Katanga, the Chair of Trustees of Computers 4 Africa attended a Commonwealth Reception at Buckingham Palace on Monday 28th October 2013. The reception was hosted by Her Royal Highnesses Queen Elizabeth II and The Duke of Edinburgh. Aseri was also honoured to meet the His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales, the Duchess of Cornwall, the Duke of Kent, and the Duke of Gloucester.

Her Majesty was delighted to meet Aseri, “What Computers 4 Africa is doing for the children in Africa is wonderful,” HRH Queen Elizabeth II.

Aseri was one of eighty invited guests.  Each attendee was carefully selected because they are influential charity workers born in Commonwealth countries but currently residing in the UK; all are dedicated to working to benefit their home communities and make them more prosperous.

Yes, it was a day to remember. When the gates of Buckingham Palace opened for Aseri Katanga - son from Ishozi, Bukoba to enter; I never imagined I would ever be in the place of Kings and Queens,” Aseri Katanga.

This opportunity arose as a direct result of Computer’s 4 Africa successfully supplying 1,000,000 children with our computers.  To mark this auspicious occasion a presentation of laptops was made to the students at the Twayambe School, Bukoba by  Aseri and Diane-Louis Corner; the  British High Commissioner to Tanzania - who travelled 879 miles north from Dar Es Salaam to attend.  The High Commissioner recognised our efforts to bridge the digital divide between the developed world and Africa, which done by supplying IT equipment from donors in the UK.  This resulted in Aseri’s visit to Buckingham Palace.
